- 2 tablespoons fresh or frozen blueberries (plus more for topping)
- 1–2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves (plus a sprig for serving)
- Juice from half a lemon
- 2 tablespoons blueberry or blackberry jam
- 1 1/2 ounces bourbon or tequila
- 1/2 ounce elderflower liquor (St. Germain)
- Sparkling water (for topping)
- For the Lemon Sugar Rim:
- Lemon zest
- Granulated sugar
- Fresh thyme leaves
Instructions
- Prepare the Glasses:
- Combine lemon zest, sugar, and thyme on a shallow plate. Dip the rim of your glasses in water, then in the lemon-sugar mixture to coat. Fill the glasses with ice.
- Make the Cocktail Base:
- In a cocktail shaker or glass jar, muddle the blueberries, thyme leaves, and lemon juice, pressing firmly to release the juices.
- Add the jam, bourbon or tequila, and elderflower liquor. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well until combined.
- Assemble the Drink:
- Strain the mixture into the prepared glasses. Top with sparkling water and gently stir to combine. Garnish with additional blueberries and a sprig of thyme.
- Adjustments and Swaps:
- If you don’t have jam, use 2 extra tablespoons of blueberries and sweeten with honey or sugar to taste.
